The purpose of the content analysis is to compare the findings from the survey with our own findings.

Looking in magazines we found mostly that:

The criteria we are looking at is:

-Clothing (how much)

-Hair color

-Eye color

-Facial expressions

-Race

-In home/out of home setting

-Age

-Contact (if there is more than one person in the ad, how close are they?)

-Facial hair (men)

-Body type

-Posing (seductive, innocent, etc.)

Cosmopolitan Content Analysis-Maggie

There were plenty of advertisements for me to analyze in this magazine, however I chose the ones that best represented our research question.

  1. Group Ad. 3 Blonde women all wearing green leaves over their suggestive body parts. Two of the women lay next to eachother while the third woman shaved her legs. The advertisment was promoting Chic Razors.
  2. Single person ad. African American male sitting at a dinner table by himself wearing casual clothes smiling while he eats Papa Johns Pizza.
  3. Group Ad. 4 people total( 2 couples) all caucasian, all women were blonde haired, all men were dark haired. The women were provacitively dressed in short skirts and halter tops or low cut shirts. Men were wearing jeans and polo shirts. The couples were sitting outside some restaurant drinking cocktails with their heads back laughing. The advertisment was for Absolut Vodka.
  4. Single Ad. African American women wearing a low cut zebra printed dress sitting by herself on a cruise boat gazing at the sunset. There were many couples in the background laughing and having a good time. The advertisement was for match.com
