TheStudy

Fathers vs. Mothers

A. Measured parental involvement of father vs. mother

  1. Both the fathers and the mothers involved in this study were given questionaries and asked to keep a time diary of the interactions they shared with their child (boy or girl)
  2. The familes involved in the study were mostly Caucasian from a middle-class background

B. The research project was also designed to measure how parental involvement is related to perceptions of child temperament and parental stress

  1. This created the possibility that the parent could react differently (more stressed)if the child behaved in an uncontrollable manner.
